Last Tuesday, the 2nd of December, Sumforest held a foresight exercise workshop at KoWi (Kooperationsstelle EU der Wissenschaftsorganisationen) in Brussels. The goal of the workshop was interactions with and the identification of information needs from and for forest policy makers. The foresight workshop was organised with European forest policy makers, scientists and key stakeholders from the Stakeholder Advisory Group.
After the Sumforest Scientific Co-ordinator Martin Greimel welcomed the participants and introduced the ERA-Net Sumforest, Lauri Hetemäki from EFI and WP 3 leader took over the lead of the workshop with an introduction, followed by presenting the foresight panel and the results from the FUTURE-study project
Gert-Jan Nabuurs, professor at the University of Wageningen, Netherlands gave an highly interesting and overarching overview of important research topics for the forest sector for Europe’s future, which also served as a strong input for the afternoon discussions during the exercise.
