Fifth Mediterranean Forest Week
Towards an enhanced regional cooperation to restore Mediteranean landscapes: improving resilience for the benefit of people and environment
20 – 24 March 2017
Registration is opened: http://www.5.medforestweek.org/content/registration
The Mediterranean forest week has been conceived as a common regional platform for cooperation on Mediterranean forests, aiming at improving the dialogue between the Mediterranean forest research community, policy-makers and the relevant stakeholders as well as at communicating to the international community and the society at large the relevance and challenges affecting Mediterranean forests.
The fifth Mediterranean forest week will advance a new approach to forest restoration that encourages cross-sectoral cooperation by working with local actors to foster productive and multifunctioning landscapes that increase economic, social and environmental benefits. This approach promotes synergies between the three Rio Conventions on climate change, biodiversity and desertification and thereby contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The fifth Mediterranean forest week will focus on on the issue of restoration of forests and landscapes in the Mediterranean basin.
